Frequently Asked Questions
No, even when it has a glossy finish. Concrete actually provides a good level of foot traction and actually fares better than some other flooring choices such as lino or marble. Our sealers also provide a considerable amount of slip resistance to concrete floors. However, it is important to exercise caution when they are wet, just like with any other type of flooring material.
CAN YOU HAVE IN FLOOR HEATING WITH POLISHED CONCRETE?
Absolutely. Concrete is incredibly thermogenic and works really well when used with water fed underfloor heating systems. We recommend laying the concrete to a minimum depth of 4" over the heating pipes, and we will provide you with special instructions for using your heating for the first time.
Thereโs no doubt that concrete floors are very strong, but the general perception that they are impervious to any damage often leaves them at risk of misuse. Although concrete floors are resistant to scratching, they are still susceptible to damage, especially from grit or pebbles that get trapped in shoes. To avoid this, we recommend the use of boundary mats to remove grit from shoes on entering a room. Dragging heavy furniture across concrete can also cause scratches. It has to be said, however, that with regular and considerate use, polished concrete flooring is one of the most durable flooring systems around today.
Polished concrete is affordable to many and comparable in costs to other flooring options such a quality porcelain tiles. We will always quote each job separately and are confident youโll not find a fairer quote elsewhere.
